Eileen qualified from Mary Immaculate College of education, Limerick in 1971. She began her teaching career in Rutland St. school in Dublin's inner city in July '71 and was appointed principal there in 1987. Eileen received a Diploma in Mentoring in 2005. Her research topic for this course was the ROLE OF PRINCIPAL TEACHER IN THE MENTORING OF NEWLY QUALIFIED TEACHER. Eileen became involved in the National Induction Programme for Teachers initially as mentor and joined the Project as associate mentor on her retirement in September 2006.
