Welcome to the website of the National Induction Programme for Teachers – Primary. We hope that you will find the website very useful and beneficial. As a newly qualified teacher we would be delighted to hear from you and would welcome your ideas, suggestions and comments on what you might find useful in your first year of teaching.
We would really like to acknowledge the work of the mentors in schools who are looking out for and supporting NQTs through their first year in teaching. We also appreciate greatly the role of the principal and staff, in helping NQTs make the transition from student teacher to newly qualified teacher.
Throughout the year there will be a range of professional development workshops held in Education Centres throughout the country, on the following topics:

- Planning and Preparation
- Working with Parents
- Differentiation
- Assessment
- Teaching of Literacy
- Behaviour Management
These sessions are open to all Newly Qualified Teachers and you can register by contacting your local Education Centre. We will also post up details on our website of the venues, dates and times of the different modules in the various Education Centres.
Keep an eye on the classroom displays and weekly plans section of the website as these displays and weekly plans are from NQTs and are updated regularly. If you have a weekly plan that you have taught and would like to share with other NQTs then email us at weeklyplans@spd.dcu.ie We welcome material from all NQTs. Our planning guidelines section is also a must see, as it contains relevant information that will enable you to plan in an effective and beneficial way, for your first year in teaching.
